Huawei Unveils 5G Flagship Mobile Phone at Mobile World Congress
Huawei recently announced its newest flagship mobile phone, the Mate 20 X, during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) Barcelona. This will be the first 5G capable phone that the Chinese mobile company plans to release this year.
The Mate 20 X will join the ranks of other 5G phones that have previously been announced by other mobile giants like Oppo, Xiaomi, and Samsung. Huawei’s new mobile phone will feature the versatile Balong 5000 chipset that the company announced a few weeks ago.
Huawei claims that the new chipset will be the first chip to be able to support both standalone and non-standalone 5G network architectures. This will allow it to work with existing 4G networks while preparing it for future 5G networks. The company explained that the Balong 5000 chip will be able to reach download speeds of 4.6 and 6.5 Gbps as long as it is connected to a Sub-5 GHz band to accommodate this extended spectrum.
Huawei also announced the new 5G CPE Pro, a new router that will act as a bridge for 5G deployment and connectivity. While the CPE Pro was already announced last year, it was never released in the market. The new device will also pack the same Balong 5000 chipset along with WiFi 6 capability, allowing it to achieve network speeds of up to 4.8 Gbps.
No specific details were revealed regarding the handset’s price and availability. However, it is considered one of the more anticipated mobile devices that is expected to be released this year alongside other competing flagship mobile phones from other companies.
